Wellness Tea vs Green Tea: Which One Is Right for You?
Published 20 December 2025

Green tea and wellness tea are often grouped together as 'healthy drinks', but they're fundamentally different products.
Green tea is made from the leaves of Camellia sinensis — the same plant that gives us black, white and oolong tea. It contains caffeine (typically 25–45 mg per cup) and an amino acid called L-theanine, which is part of why it offers a calm, focused energy.
Wellness teas, on the other hand, are herbal infusions. They're made from flowers, leaves and roots that don't come from the tea plant — hibiscus, moringa, butterfly pea, lemongrass, chamomile, ginger. They are naturally caffeine-free.
Choose green tea when you want a gentle morning lift, support during a workout, or a focused afternoon. Choose wellness tea when you're winding down, pregnant, caffeine-sensitive, or simply want a hydrating, flavourful drink without the buzz.
Many people enjoy both — green tea in the morning, wellness tea in the evening. There's no rule that says you have to pick one.
The most important thing isn't which category you choose. It's choosing tea that's fresh, clean, single-origin where possible, and brewed slowly enough to actually enjoy.
